Billy and Rubin Comics

cross-of-pipette-and-penIn the process of putting this blog together, something unlikely happened. I began my own comic. It was not intentional. I do not, nor have I ever had any interest in starting my own comic. I don’t even read comics!

On August 7th 2016,  I drew up the first comic in PowerPoint for a post, thinking that it would be funny to see a scientist pretending to do magic in the work place. After that, I realized I could put these same two scientists in any number of situations to help sell the point of almost every blog post. It wasn’t until my fourth or fifth comic that I began to think of these two scientists as separate individuals with distinct personalities, one quirky and always getting terrible ideas, while the other always sitting, relaxed, and occasionally writing. I named them Billy and Rubin, respectively, after one of my favorite molecules, bilirubin. I have since added a PI, Principle Investigator of the laboratory, who makes his entrance (as is always the case) at the worst possible moment.

Enjoy!

Philip
