In the process of putting this blog together, something unlikely happened. I began my own comic. It was not intentional. I never had any interest in starting my own comic.
On August 7th 2016, I created the first comic in PowerPoint for a post, thinking it would be funny to see a scientist pretending to do magic in the lab. After that, I realized I could put these same two scientists in any number of situations to help sell the point of almost every blog post. It wasn’t until my fourth or fifth comic that I began to think of these two scientists as separate individuals with distinct personalities, one a quirky genius with just as many bad ideas as good ones, and the other always sitting in his chair, a casual and often ambivalent spectator to the chaos around him. I named them Billy and Rubin, respectively, after one of my favorite molecules, bilirubin. I have since added a PI, Principle Investigator of the laboratory, who makes his entrance (as is always the case) at the worst possible moment.
I hope you enjoy!
